Truck driver given three-year sentence in fatal crash in Oakville in 2019

A truck driver has been handed a three-year sentence after a crash that killed a Niagara Falls woman and injured seven other people.

A transport truck carrying a load of produce collided with multiple vehicles and burst into flames on the QEW on Aug. 22, 2019.

The driver of one of the vehicles was killed. She was identified as Elena Kulikova, 34, a well-known Niagara Falls artist.

The truck driver, 34-year-old Muhammad Hasnai from Mississauga, was found guilty of dangerous driving causing death in February.

On Tuesday, he was given a three-year sentence and six-year driving prohibition.
