Truck carrying crushed cans crashes, cramps traffic

A truck loaded with crushed aluminum cans heading to a recycling facility has crashed off Highway 401 near Morriston.

It toppled over after turning on to Brock Rd, at around 3 o’clock this morning. Crews have been busy offloading cubes of crushed cans before the shipping container can be removed from the road.

One flatbed truck has already been loaded with recyclables; another has taken its place. The southbound lanes are expected to remain closed for the rest of the morning.

The driver suffered minor injuries. Provincial police are investigating.
