Truck bursts into flames

An alert driver escaped an explosive danger Monday afternoon.

The truck caught fire on South Service Road near Fifty Road. Police say the driver pulled over after he smelled something burning, and was able to get out before flames engulfed the front of the truck. Thick black smoke poured into the sky — and South Service Road was closed while crews worked to put out the fire. The truck was completely destroyed.
