Tropical storm floods city in Japan

A day after raging floodwaters washed away houses and forced dozens of people to flee,   rescue efforts continue in Josi and Osaki cities, north of Japan’s capital, Tokyo.

More than 3,500 people are staying in evacuation shelters after a river burst its banks, washing away some houses and forcing dozens of people to rooftops.

Many homes and vehicles are severely damaged with piles of debris still covered in water.

The city had been hit by two days of heavy rain in the wake of tropical storm Etau.
