A winter weather travel advisory is in effect with more snow expected to blanket Hamilton and Niagara Region.

Environment Canada says the areas can expect total snowfall accumulations of five to ten centimetres by Monday evening.

The weather agency says visibility will be reduced at times due to heavy snow.

Drivers should anticipate hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.

Residents are being reminded to take extra care when walking or driving.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas so motorists are advised to be patient and drive safely.

The snow is expected to dissipate after midnight.
