Trailer hitch flies into women’s windshield

It was a terrifying experience for a St. Catharines woman Wednesday afternoon, after a piece of a trailer hitch came flying through her windshield on the QEW.

“Essentially landed on the hood of her vehicle and then inserted itself in the windshield, fortunately it didn’t go all the way through the window.” Cst. Rob Knight.

The woman was driving in the Niagara bound lanes near the Bartlett exit when the ball mount came flying through her windshield, the OPP say driving the speed limit likely saved her life.

The OPP are still investigating this case and if the driver is found, they could face a fine of up to $20,000.
