Traffic stop leads to drug bust

Hamilton police have arrested and charged two Hamilton men in connection with thousands of dollars worth of street drugs found inside a rental vehicle during an early morning traffic stop.

Police say shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, they noticed a silver 2019 Chevrolet Malibu emerge from an alleyway on Barton St. and Emerald St. in Hamilton.

Prior to conducting the traffic stop, they confirmed the plates were registered to a car rental company in London.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Barton St. just south of Emerald.

During the stop, police learned the driver and passenger had outstanding warrants with Ottawa and Hamilton Police Services.

During a search, officers found more than $26,000 worth of methamphetamine, codeine and Fentanyl along with more than $5,000 in cash.

31-year-old Ulysesse Sherwin of Hamilton is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of proceeds of crime over $5000, and failure to comply.

37- year-old Blake Franklin of Hamilton is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with probation.
