TRAFFIC ALERT: Red Hill Valley Pkwy closure Sunday

The southbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway will be closed overnight Sunday so the city can collect asphalt.

The closure will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday and is expected to wrap before 6 a.m. Monday.

It will affect the southbound lanes from Barton St. East to Dartnall Rd.

During the closure, city crews will gather samples to test the quality of the asphalt.

They will also see what would be needed to recycle the material during the planned resurfacing of the highway in 2019.

An update on the repaving plan is expected to go to city council in the fall.
