One of the largest natural displays of ice formations is happening at Niagara Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Thanks to this frigid February, tourists are flocking to Niagara Falls to witness another natural phenomenon.

Shrouded in mist, and surrounded by ice, the American Falls look like they’re frozen. “Actually they’re not frozen–what they’re seeing are the beautiful ice formations that happen every winter because of the tremendous amount of ice that builds up because of the mist and cold temperatures” explains Tony Baldinelli from the Niagara Parks Commission.

Still, people want to see if it is in fact frozen.

Facebook is fueling a lot of the excitement. After seeing Facebook photos, the Bedenik family drove 500 kilometres from Ohio to see the ice. “It’s pretty spectacular to be honest”

All of this publicity of icing at the falls has given the tourist industry a bit of boost during the slowest month of the year.
