Toronto woman falls into Niagara River
Search continues for 20 year-old student who fell into the Niagara River
The woman was swept over the Horsehoe Falls.
Police will be going back into the water to resume their search, and will also use a helicopter with thermal imaging.
Officials said two female students were taking pictures near the Falls, when one of them climbed onto a railing at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
When she tried to climb down, she slipped and fell into the very fast-flowing Niagara River, and was swept over the Falls.
The incident was captured on a nearby security camera.
She is presumed to have drowned in the waters.
This recent incident comes after a 27-year-old man from London, Ont., survived a 30-foot fall down the Niagara gorge early Sunday morning.
He was attempting to get a “better look” when he slipped in to the waters.
Police said he’s going to be charged under the Niagara Parks Act of Ontario.
Two other men tried to rescue him, and had to be saved also.
