Toronto Police disperse noisy bank ‘Occupy’-ers
Occupy Toronto protestors made their way back to St James Park after briefly causing traffic disruptions at King and Bay and staging a sit-in inside a bank.
A noisy demonstration came to an end this afternoon after Toronto Police broke up the sit-in inside a TD Canada Trust branch. While some protesters sat on the floor inside, others banged on the windows outside until police forced the crowd to leave.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Ontario Federation of Labour joined in a march earlier in support of the Occupy Toronto movement. They waved union flags and chanted “we are the 99 percent” to condemn the growing gap between the rich and the poor.
Tonight an Occupy Hamilton general assembly will be held at Homegrown Hamilton, 27 King William Street at seven o’clock. It’s not clear yet what will be discussed at the meeting or how many people will attend.
