Toronto ‘Occupy’-ers told to leave

Officials are cracking down on ‘Occupy’ protesters in Toronto, with eviction notices handed out to protesters at St James park.

They must remove tents, structures, equipment or personal belongings immediately. The city says it recognizes their their right to protest but that the encampment can not continue. The city says it’ll even help to remove the tents if the protesters would like their help.

Bylaw officers, police and other city officials went around to each tent and posted eviction letters on to the tents, and on lamp posts.

Occupiers had been asked by mayor Rob Ford to leave earlier last week, but this is official. The letter states no one is to be in the park between 12:01 to 5:30 am or they will be violating the Trespass to Property act and they can be arrested and fined up to $2000.
