Toronto needs money
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford wants 150 million dollars from the Ontario government to help balance the city’s books.
The Toronto Star says a letter sent by Ford to Finance Minister Dwight Duncan asks for help with road construction and public transit projects.
The wish list also asks for the renewal of programs to fund subsidized child care, housing and services for immigrants.
Some Ontario Liberals are now turning Ford’s election catchphrase back on him, joking, “haven’t you heard? the gravy train has been stopped.”
