Environment Canada has confirmed that a tornado did touch down in Sheffield Monday night.

The EF-1 tornado left a trail of damage, forcing people who live in the small community just south of Cambridge to spend most of yesterday cleaning up. Tarps covered damaged roofs, trailers were still on top of cars, sheds were lying on the ground, and tree debris was everywhere.

Residents say it began with a loud humming noise — but it didn’t last very long.
