Tories attacking NDP over public budget consultation

Updated The Ontario NDP aren’t rushing to make a decision on whether to back the Liberals’ budget and keep them in power, or team up with the PCs to oust the minority government.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath says it’s crucial to get feedback from Ontarians before jumping into another election. “That’s the conversation we’re going to have with Ontarians in this consultation process.”

“We think there’s opportunity to deliver for them and we need to make sure the government’s prepared to do that. The bad behaviour the government has shown concerns Ontarians and I’m sure we’ll be hearing some of that feedback in this process.”

Meanwhile Ontario PC finance critic Peter Shurman is criticizing Horwath’s decision to consult the public before deciding whether to back the Liberals.

“The NDP has already gotten everything they want, so I’m not understanding what another week or ten days of answering 1-800-ANDREA is going to do.”

Shurman also criticized the Liberals for bowing to demands of the NDP and mis-spending public money in the gas plant scandal.
