Toll prices for HWY 407 Express set to increase New Year’s Day 2025

Starting Jan. 1, 2025 the price to take the Highway 407 Expressway is going up from from as low as three cents to as high 14 cents per km for some vehicles.
A press release by the Ontario government reads the new toll rates will depend on the time of day and how far a vehicle drives on certain parts of the highway.
For example, light vehicles – cars, vans, SUVs, or small trucks – going westbound between the QEW to Dundas would pay 36.11 cents per kilometre, compared to 2024’s rates of 30.22 cents per kilometre.
A light vehicle driving the same stretch but at 2:30 p.m. would pay 74.14 cents per kilometre in 2025, compared to 2024’s rate of 62.05 cents per kilometre.
The full schedule of expressway rates can be found here on their official website.
The highway has also expanded the road from four to 12 zones to “optimize traffic flow.”
Motorcycles and medium vehicles – sprinter vans, large pick-up trucks and SUVs, trucks and vans towing a trailer weighing under 5,000 kg – were also added to the list of vehicle classifications.
For the first time in five years, fees will also rise for camera charges, account maintenance, and transponder leases.
Most drivers can expect their monthly bills to increase by about $8.
Motorcycles will pay less than four-wheeled vehicles, while larger trucks, vans and SUVs towing trailers will pay more than previously.
