Today is the day in the future that Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown travel to, in ‘Back to the Future 2’. While many of the predictions in the movie never happened, a surprising amount actually came true. The movie trilogy is so popular today, that the sight of Delorean can still bring a smile to many people’s faces.

As Marty Mcfly quickly discovers, 2015 is vastly different from the 1985 that he came from.

We do have hoverboards today, but our cars don’t fly. And though there was never a ‘Jaws 19’, we do have 3D animation.

“What’s more interesting is the things they got horribly wrong. We’re historically terrible about predicting the future. The movie gives us an opportunity to think of different architectures, and clothing and cultural trends that really never manifested themselves.” said Michael Egan.

Ethan Golden looks like a young Marty Mcfly and he has big plans for this futuristic day. “I’m going around the city in the Deloreon because it’s back to the future day.”

This Delorean doesn’t have a flux capacitor, and can’t travel into the future, but Ethan is hoping it will help him raise money for juvenile arthritis. “I’m trying to collect 1 million dimes to help find a cure for juvenile arthritis. I’m going to different companies who are helping fund my cause.”

Rick Barardi, or Doc Brown today, works for Landshark Drilling, a company in Burford that owns this 1982 Delorean. “Ethan is a special young man. He’s got a great cause, we have the car to do it, why not help him on this day.”

They hit Brantford city hall first, and then the parking lot outside Strodes deli and sweets bakery. “People are giving me thumbs up, coming to our stops, wanting pictures with the car.”

Rick isn’t up to date on all of the Back to Future predictions but he is hoping at least one doesn’t come true. “They move forward in time to this day, and I hate to say it, the Cubs win the world series, which I don’t want to happen.”

Even though the movie is far from accurate, it still has a massive following.
