It was a painful day for a lot of employees at Tim Hortons head office in Oakville, the company says it had to make some difficult, but necessary decisions today.

The iconic donut chain won’t specify how many people are out of work but according to some workers who spoke to us in confidence after being let go, the axe fell hard and wide today.

In a statement from Tim Hortons it says: We have had to make some difficult but necessary decisions today as we reorganize our company to position ourselves for the significant growth and opportunities ahead of us. We greatly appreciate the service and contributions of all of our employees and are treating departing employees with the utmost respect, while providing generous and enhanced severance packages, continuing health benefits and outplacement services.
