Tim Hortons Camp Day returns to support underserved youth

Your morning Tims or afternoon iced coffee helped send a kid to camp yesterday.

July 17th was Camp Day, a day set aside for Tim Hortons locations across Canada to raise funds to send underprivileged kids to camp.

Sharon Hart owns the Tims at 969 Upper Ottawa Street in Hamilton. Aside from the iced and hot coffees, her location raised funds through a barbecue and raffle.

Hart said, “Last year, we raised almost $13,000. This year, we are aiming for 16,000. And you know what? It’s looking good.”

The Tim Hortons Foundation Camps support low-income families and disadvantaged youth between the ages of 12 and 16.

The program has helped over 320,000 youth since the foundation started 50 years ago.

Last year, Tim Hortons locations as a whole raised over $12.7 million dollars on Camp Day.

If you know someone who might benefit from the camp program, more information is available on the Tim Hortons website, at restaurant locations, or you can contact a school guidance counselor.
