Almost on time and probably on budget. That’s the latest word from the builders of Tim Hortons Field, the new home of the Hamilton Ticats.

At a news conference this afternoon, building officials said they expect the $150 million project to be ready for the Tiger-cats’ home opener July 26, that’s three weeks behind the last forecast.

“Our level of confidence is very high. I think we have to rely on the contractor. They’re the expert. They’re here every day. Very professional firm,” said Glenn Gibson, president of the Tiger-Cats.

“The handrails are going to be going in … so you see those big changes that make you confident that we can make the stadium,” said Garreth Barkey, site supervisor for Kenaidan Contracting Ltd.

The 22,500 seat stadium will host 32 soccer games for the 2015 Pan Am Games in addition to being the future home of the Tiger-Cats.
