Ticats sign QB after Masoli suffers season-ending injury

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats added another quarterback (QB) to the roster after starting QB Jeremiah Masoli suffered a season-ending injury.
Masoli tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee with five minutes left in the first quarter of Friday night’s 23-15 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Hamilton.
On Monday, the team announced it had signed former Saskatchewan quarterback David Watford.
The six-foot-two, 212-pound native of Hampton, Va., appeared in 18 games for the Roughriders last year.
The 26-year-old joined Saskatchewan’s practice roster in 2017 after playing parts of two seasons in the NFL.
Dane Evans, who replaced Masoli following the injury, is expected to start Thursday against the Roughriders. Rookie quarterback Hayden Moore is also on the roster.
The club says no date has been determined for Masoli’s surgery.
