Ticats ready for Montreal

Now that they have snapped out of a 3-game losing slide, the Tiger-Cats will be aiming to make it two wins in a row when they take on the Alouettes in Montreal on Sunday afternoon. A win would also lift the Ticats into first place in the CFL east.

Jonathan Crompton earned the respect of many Montreal fans in his first start — and win — in the CFL last week. But he also has at least one fan in Hamilton:

Ticats Linebacker Simoni Lawrence: “He’s a really good quarterback, he’s a competitor. I like him. He’s a cool guy, but I can’t wait to hit him.”

Lawrence and Crompton have some history — they played on opposing teams during the 2010 NFL season, and both took part in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ training camp back in 2011.

Simoni Lawrence: “He’s gonna do anything to win. Hard throws down field. Take off and run, anything to try and win the game. When somebody like that gets an opportunity, someone that deserves it like that, they’ll do anything to win.”

That’s also how Bakari Grant described the Ticats performance last week. Despite their fumbles and dropped touchdown passes, the Ticats somehow found a way to win. And how will they change that this week?

Ticats receiver Bakari Grant: “Consistency, across the board. You make good plays throughout the game, and that’s good and all, but we left a good 24 points out there on plays that should have been made, like you said. So, consistently making those plays.”

The calibre of talent on the largely veteran Montreal defense is not lost on the Ticats either.

Ticats Quarterback Zack Collaros: “I think that we’re seeing things that they’re doing pretty well and we know they’re gonna’ throw some curve balls at us but we’ll have to deal with that adversity when the time comes. Deal with it in a good way and be able to execute.”
