A member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offered a helping hand at Hamilton Food Share on Tuesday to support the Purolator Tackle Hunger Event.

Tiger-Cats quarterback Matt Schiltz came out to pack bags and sort food, helping the campaign that sees Purolator team up with the C.F.L. to provide food for local communities in need.

The event encourages anyone going to the Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field to bring a non-perishable food item with them to donate.

Schiltz says he feels the community deserves the help from the Ticats because they always diligently show up to support him and his team.

“We always like to say, Hamilton, we have the best fans in the C.F.L., and you know, they’re able to come out, support us, and it’s a community that’s really tight-knit and it’s a community that needs our help,” Schiltz said.

“So, I like to show my support out here and as a team, as an organization, we want to give back as much as we can.”

The Labour Day Classic is one of the C.F.L.’s oldest traditions– with the Ticats facing the Toronto Argonauts on Monday for the 52nd time.
