Ticats QB Bo Levi Mitchell out for Friday’s home opener

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats say newly-signed quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell will not suit up for Friday’s home opener at Tim Hortons Field.

Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer says Mitchell is out with a lower body injury after leaving the fourth quarter in Sunday’s loss against arch-rival, the Toronto Argonauts. Steinauer has given backup Matt Shiltz the start when the Montreal Alouettes come to town.

Steinauer said, “The chances of him playing are basically zero…”

Outside the stadium on Tuesday, fans passing by caught a glimpse of practice and feel confident about moving past the Ticats’ first two losses. One fan said, “I’m hoping that Shiltz will do good. I have expectations for him, he needs to play a little bit more and get some more reps but I think he can pull it through for us…”

According to Ticketmaster, as of Tuesday morning, there are roughly 500 tickets still left for purchase for Friday’s home opener.
