Ticats pay attention to the little things

The Tiger-Cats face a major challenge this week as they tackle the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday afternoon at McMaster. Despite their 1-5 record, the Ticats are still a confident crew, and are maintaining a business-like approach day to day, week to week.
C.J. Gable appeared at two practices this week wearing a walking boot. On Thursday, he was nowhere to be found, and his status for Saturday looks grim.
G.M. And Head Coach Kent Austin: “Today’s supposed to be the day we find out, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed, but not likely.”
CFL newcomer Mossis Madu picked-up the pieces when Gable was injured in B.C. and he’s also assumed that role this week at practice. The 27 year-old Oklahoma alum was released by the New York Jets last summer, and spent the two previous years in Tampa with the Bucs: “They really stress being a pro and doing the little things: taking care of your body, getting into film rooms — that really helped me a lot because in college I was young. I don’t gotta stretch that much — doing the little things that get you longevity in your career.”
According to coach Austin, another player who’s been paying close attention to “the little things” is third-year receiver Sam Giguere, who caught three passes for a career-high 130 yards last week in B.C.
Kent Austin: “He’s gotten in a bit better shape, his conditioning and stamina is better this year than it has been and it’s an indication of his caring.”
Receiver Sam Giguere: “We know we have a winning formula, even though our record doesn’t state it right now, we know that if we just keep working at it we’ll be good.”
