Ticats finish prep for Eskimos

The Tiger-Cats are unbeaten in their first two games at Tim Hortons Field, and they’ll try to make it three in a row when they meet the Edmonton Eskimos tomorrow night, the first game under the lights at their brand new digs. One player the Tiger-Cats will have to keep close tabs on is Adarius Bowman, the CFL’s leading receiver.

Head Coach Kent Austin: “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast. He can catch the ball underneath. He’s a deep threat. He is a guy that they feature and move around in their offence. And when he’s called upon he makes plays. He’s a playmaker. So it’s a challenge for us with him.”

Linebacker Simoni Lawrence: “There’s some plays where I get to see him a lot so I’m very excited about that. He’s a good receiver, but I’m very confident in the players that I’m around and myself that we can stop him. Don’t let him get started. Frustrate them like last time we played them. He didn’t catch the balls early, we were on him early that caused him to drop some passes. Be confident that we can cover him because we get paid too.”

Head Coach Kent Austin: “They’re really good on defence, really good up front. They put a lot of pressure on the quarterback. We have to control the line of scrimmage and protect Zach.”

Quarterback Zach Collaros: “They have a really great front four. They’ve had a good year defensively. They cause a lot of turnovers and cause a lot of chaos. We were facing a very good front four last week. This one may be a little more athletic. They do different things with very good players and Willis is one of them.”

29-year old Adarius Bowman isn’t just leading the CFL in receiving, he’s way out in front of everyone else. His 75 catches is 29 more than the second best, Clarence Denmark. Bowman has 975 yards in receptions, and that is 315 yards more than Denmark. Bowman’s 6 TD catches ties him for the most in the league. The Ticats contained Bowman in their first meeting, holding him to 3 catches for 39 yards and no TD’s. They’ll be okay if they can do that again.
