Ticats collapse against Argos

The Ticats are doing their best to put Friday night’s loss behind them. They somehow found the stomach to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together as a team on Saturday. We asked the Ticats to revisit Friday night’s meltdown.

There were many things that caused last Friday’s devastating defeat. Turnovers were one. The Cats’ inability to finish drives is a recurring problem.

And poor execution capped-off the 21-unanswered-point fourth quarter.

Both players and coaches say they’ve left that turkey in the past, and today it’s time to give thanks.

Orlondo Steinauer, Defensive Coordinator: “I’m thankful that wasn’t an elimination game. If it was, I could expand more about how it feels, but it wasn’t, so I’m thankful for a lot of things but especially that it was not an elimination game.”

Quarterback Zach Collaros: “Definitely a tough loss to swallow, but we had a good day today, very intense. I think we needed that. We need 2 more. Hopefully we’ll execute in this game a little better than we did last week.”

But when they suit-up against Ottawa this Friday, they might have to do it without Mossis Madu. He did not practice today, and when asked about his status, Coach Austin replied: “Don’t know, don’t know right now.”

Cornerback Delvin Breaux also watched practice from the sidelines, as did slotback Andy Fantuz. Neither injury was explained, but Austin didn’t seem too worried: “Of the guys that were out today, that doesn’t mean they’re not playing.”

On the plus side, Greg Ellingson continues to make great strides on the gridiron at least in practice and while he has not yet been cleared to play, his return to the active roster would be a very welcome addition.
