Three Niagara area residents charged in connection to a double homicide

Three Niagara area residents will appear in court later this month, in connection to a double homicide.

Two of the individuals face murder charges, after human remains were found near Haliburton in January.

It’s been nearly 7 months since Ontario Provincial Police discovered the remains of St. Catharines residents Deidra Ann Smith and Justin Robichaud in cottage country.

“Whenever you have a crime of this magnitude it requires an awful lot of police activity.”

An obituary for Smith says the 35 year old was tragically ripped from the lives of her 3 young daughters, while one for Robichaud says he’ll be forever missed by his family.

Their remains were found on January 21st, along Glamour Lake Road, about 23 kilometers south of Haliburton. An autopsy later determined the two were the victims of foul play.

“It’s adjacent to a lake area, a road in rural Ontario, circled by a lot of trees. a very well forested area.”

Charged yesterday with 2 counts of second-degree murder and committing an indignity to human remains were 36 year-old Jesse James Wallace and 37 year-old Lindsay Elisabeth Luise Ainsworth, both of St. Catharines.

A third person, 36 year-old Alexis Adele York, also of St. Catharines, is charged with 2 counts of accessory after the fact.

All three appeared in a St. Catharines courtroom yesterday where they were scheduled to return to court later this month to answer to the charges.

Wallace and York will appear on July 18th, while Ainsworth is scheduled to appear on the 20th.
