Of the millions of photos posted to social media every day, there’s never been one that so quickly divided the internet on what should be a no brainer: what colour a dress is.

The question was posted online Thursday night and by Friday it was a top Twitter trend.

Psychology students at McMaster University spent their lecture Friday morning breaking down what’s being dubbed ‘dress-gate.’

A day of fevered examination has revealed the dress to be black and blue.
