The province will be raising the speed limit on select highways to 110 km/h

Three sections of highways in Southern Ontario will change the posted speed limit to 110 km/hr starting mid-September as part of a two year pilot program.
The QEW from St. Catharines to Hamilton, Highway 402 from London to Sarnia and Highway 417 from Ottawa to the Ontario/Quebec border.
The Minister of transportation says feedback received during consultations will be considered as part of the final decision making process.
The province says there will be increased signage and messaging and is proposing amendments that keep the street-racing penalties at 150 kilometres an hour. This means in the speed limit pilot zones, the street-racing penalties will apply at 40 km/h over the posted speed limit, not the usual 50 km/h over.
