The price of policing
When Hamilton’s police chief presented his annual budget to city council yesterday, mayor Bob Bratina seemed fairly comfortable with the 5.25 percent increase Glenn De Caire was asking for.
Bratina said it works out to about $30 more each year for the average household. But we wanted to know how much Hamiltonians as individual taxpayers are paying for policing, and how it compares with other municipalities in Southwestern Ontario. Lisa Hepfner has been crunching the numbers and has the details.
