Egypt remains in a state of emergency this evening amid clashes between the military and Mohammed Morsi supporters. A mosque in cairo has been cleared of the hundreds of pro-morsi demonstrators holed up there since protests began yesterday.

According to egyptian officials, clashes across the country yesterday killed over 170 people, and today the violence continued. A fire station that was attacked Friday saw several fire engines damaged and some were still burning today. The incident happened as Muslim Brotherhood supporters clashed with security forces in the city, setting tires on fire and placing barricades on one street.

Meanwhile, Egyptian security forces stormed a mosque in Cairo today where members of the Muslim Brotherhood had sought refuge after yesterday’s fighting.

A crowd outside the mosque cheered when members of the police and army walked outside. We do know a Toronto man was killed Friday in the violence.

A spokesman for the Egyptian cabinet says authorities are considering disbanding the Muslim Brotherhood group that the ousted former president headed.
