The Juno Awards took place at the Scotiabank Saddledome, in Calgary, last night, and The Weeknd came away the big winner of the night.
The Toronto performer won five Juno awards, taking home Album of the Year for ‘Beauty behind the Madness’ and Single of the Year for “Can’t feel my face.” He also collected three other Junos on Saturday, raising his career total to nine.
Brampton’s Alessia Cara accepted her award for Breakthrough Artist. This is the first juno for the 19-year-old singer, who opened the show with her hit song “Here” and her new single “Wild Things”. And Burlington’s Walk off the Earth also took home their first juno for Group of the Year, beating out Hedley, Marianas Trench and Metric.
Other winners from last night, include Stratford’s Justin Bieber, who was voted as the fan choice and Dean Brody who walked away with Country Album of the Year.
