The Gallows is another found-footage horror film, this one written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff and produced by modern day horror guru Jason Blum. The film stars Reese Mishler, Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Pfeifer Brown, Price T. Morgan, and Alexis Schneider.

In 1993, high school student Charlie Grimille died by the noose in a freak accident during Beatrice High’s production of the play “The Gallows.” Twenty years later, it seems Charlie will finally have his curtain call. And his revenge. On the eve of the play’s revival, students Reese, Pfeifer, Cassidy and Ryan spend the night trapped in the school’s auditorium, with no way to call for help. If Charlie has his way, it may be the last night they spend alive.

To help create a more realistic sense of fear in their young cast, the directors hired cast members that were unfamiliar with the Fresno, California locations they shot at, some of which are reportedly haunted. They also named the characters using their actor’s real names. Producer Dean Schnider thought that idea was genius. “The fact that Chris and Travis decided to use the actors’ names as their character names was a very smart, simple idea that spoke to how they approached the entire movie, which is grounded and as raw and authentic as possible.”

The Gallows is rated 14A.
