The annual Soldiers’ Field Day at Old Fort Erie

Military skills from the war of 1812 were on display at old Fort Erie, during the annual soldier’s field day competition.

The event brings out some friendly competition amongst Niagara parks’ heritage team members.

Over the summer, staff learned some of the skills that were used during the historic war, such as military drills and cooking techniques.

They put these skills into practice to compete in events including the manual of arms drill, speed loading, and firing drills.
