More tests needed for cylinder found in Gore Park

Hamiltonians and history enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to find out more about the historic object found late last month in Gore Park.

City crews still don’t know if the discovery is a time capsule or a spindle from an old scroll. Officials at Heritage Resource Management say they are doing some more tests this week and will hopefully have more updates soon.

The metal tube is being x-rayed to see what is inside without cutting or damaging the mysterious cylinder.

Some believe the contents likely contain a scroll listing 1800 names of soldiers killed during the first world war.
