2 teenaged girls charged with assaulting a Peel region police officer made their first appearance in court today. This incident went viral after it was all caught on a cell phone camera back in February, after the family day long weekend.

In the video you can see an attempted arrest quickly escalate into a brawl after 2 Brampton teens, ages 15 and 16, violently fought off a Peel police officer. They were being arrested for trespassing on school property when they began slapping and punching her.

Their mother says they’re both nice girls who have never been in any fights, both girls are B+ students and extremely loyal. She says they just made the wrong decision on the day of the alleged assault by trying to look out for a friend. What the family hopes for now, is that the girls have learned their lesson.

The girls have been charged with entering a premises when prohibited, obstructing & assaulting a police officer, and assisting & escaping lawful custody. Their mother can’t be identified under the youth criminal justice act she says the teens have both been suspended from school. they want to put this incident behind them and are looking forward to returning to class.
