Teen with replica handgun arrested after lockdown at Oakville school

A high school in Oakville was put into lockdown Tuesday and several others were placed in hold and secure as Halton police searched for a person with a gun.
The south campus of White Oaks Secondary School went into lockdown around 2:30 p.m. after officers received a report of a man with a firearm. At the time, it was not known if the weapon was real or a replica.
Police found a 16-year old boy on the school property and he was placed in custody.
Officers said they seized a replica handgun, and the teen may face weapon-related charges.
The lockdown at White Oaks Secondary School and the hold and secures at all other schools were lifted around 3:30 p.m.
Police said there is no threat to public safety.
