Teen found dead in Dundas, three youths charged

UPDATED
Hamilton police have arrested three youths after a 17-year-old boy was found dead inside a car in Dundas on Monday.
Officers were called to the area of Patterson Rd. and Wesley Rd. around 7:35 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision.
Emergency crews found a teenage boy inside a vehicle and attempted to save his life, however he was pronounced dead.
Police have identified the victim as Abdalla Hassan.
“Abdalla’s family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss of their son,” said Hamilton police in a news release.
Police say results from the post-mortem indicate that Hassan was killed by a gunshot wound. Police have recovered the firearm believed to be used in the murder, however the number of shots and the location of the shooting are not being released at this time.
Witnesses told police they saw three males fleeing the area. Officers located a trio of youths matching the descriptions a short distance from the scene.
They were arrested and are scheduled to appear in court later Tuesday to face first-degree murder charges.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and the public is not at risk. Police are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.
The cause of death is still under investigation. Police say the results of an autopsy will be released Wednesday.
The Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.
This is the city’s second homicide of 2019.
