Teen cyclist hospitalized with severe injuries after collision in Grimsby

Niagara Emergency Medical Service says a teenage cyclist has been sent to hospital with severe injuries after being struck by a car Sunday night.

They say the collision happened just after 11 p.m. at an intersection near Christie Street and the QEW.

Niagara police have confirmed that the teen was struck by a blue Dodge Ram pick up truck being driven by a 34-year-old man from Grimsby.

Paramedics say the 13-year-old boy was taken to an out-of-region hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries to his head and lower body.

The off ramp at the intersection remained closed for investigation overnight, but has since re-opened.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.
