The Hamilton teen accused of killing 14-year-old Devan Selvey will stand trial for second-degree murder.

Selvey was fatally stabbed outside Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School on Oct. 7, 2019.

The accused, who was also 14 years old at the time, was originally charged with first-degree murder in Selvey’s death but that charge has now been reduced.

After a brief virtual appearance on Thursday, he will appear in court again next month.

The accused’s brother, who was 18 years old at the time, was also charged in Selvey’s death. That charge was reduced and he is serving 15 months of probation after pleading guilty to a weapons charge.
