Teen charged, Hamilton man sought in robbery

A 16-year-old boy is facing charges and police are searching for an 18 year old after two thieves tried to rob a man at knifepoint in downtown Hamilton.

Police say the man was walking southbound on James St. North from Vine St. when two males approached him. They brandished a knife and told the man to turn over his wallet and phone.

A short struggle ensued when one of the males attempted to grab the victim’s phone as he tried to call 911.

The suspects were unable to obtain any of the items and ran off. The victim was not hurt during the ordeal.

Witnesses sitting inside an establishment nearby saw the robbery and provided a suspect description to police.

Jeremy Kotar, 18, is wanted for robbery, obstruct peace officer and break of probation. Police say a 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with robbery.
