Teen arrested in illicit drug trafficking case in downtown Hamilton

A teenage boy has been arrested by Hamilton police in connection with an illicit drug trafficking investigation.
According to officials, officers were conducting surveillance outside a local shelter last Friday afternoon in response to repeated reports of drug activity.
While surveilling, police say they watched a 17-year-old boy approach another person outside the shelter.
He was allegedly seen with a clear baggie, containing what was later confirmed as fentanyl.
Police say the boy placed a portion of the substance into the hand of the other person.
Hamilton officers ultimately seized the fentanyl, which had an estimated street value of $500.
The teen is now facing numerous charges in relation to this incident.
