Teen airlifted from 401 crash

A 15-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital with what police are calling “life-altering” injuries following a van rollover in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401.
Debris was strewn across all the eastbound lanes near Winston Churchill Blvd. as a result of the single-vehicle crash, leading police to close the highway around 4:30 a.m.
Emergency responders worked for about an hour to free the teen from the wrecked van. His 56-year-old father was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The highway will be closed from Trafalgar to the 407 for several hours for the investigation and clean-up. OPP hope to have two lanes open by 7:30 a.m.
