Police make arrest after taxi cab stolen in Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested a man after he allegedly stole a taxi cab near King St. East and James St. South.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, police say a man tried to get inside of an ambulance that was stopped at a red light. After he was unable to get inside, the man went to a nearby taxi and told the driver to get out. The driver complied and the man drove away in the stolen taxi.

Police located the man a short time later near Robert St. and John St. North.

A 36-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with possession of stolen property and fail to comply probation.

Police say the taxi driver did not suffer any physical injuries during the incident.
