Tax deadline day

Updated video The clock is ticking if you have yet to file your income tax for 2011.

The deadline is midnight tonight. And if you have waited until now to file your income tax, don’t worry: you’re not the only one.

According to the Canada Revenue Agency they expect about 28 million people to file; as of last week they have only processed about half that number. If you are perhaps intimidated by the process there is help. The CRA has set up a community volunteer income tax program to help guide you through the process.

If you owe money on your taxes and don’t file by midnight, you face a 5% penalty.
