Swoop Passengers headed to Las Vegas stranded in Hamilton

Passengers at the Hamilton Airport are feeling frustrated and annoyed after their Swoop airline flight to Las Vegas was cancelled last night, and re-booked for nearly 24 hours later. Swoop says it received reports during boarding yesterday that something may have been thrown into the engine, and a maintenance inspection was required.

Passengers say it was so hot that a flight attendant received medical attention for what appeared to be heat stroke. After about 45 minutes of sitting on the sweltering aircraft, the passengers were told to disembark. A maintenance inspection was required. Swoop says the precautionary inspection was because they received reports that something may have been thrown into the engine. Representatives told CHCH News today that nothing was found, and that the aircraft was cleared to fly.

The next flight to Las Vegas was nearly 24 hours later, putting a wrench in travel plans. Passengers say they received hotel accommodations and a $10 food voucher. Mostly they are feeling upset because for hours, they say no one told them what was going on.

While many missed the Fourth of July fireworks they were hoping to see, they say they will make the best of what’s left of their trip. Swoop Airlines say they are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused passengers, adding that their main priority is the safety of their guests and crew.
