Hamilton police said an alert about a suspicious person seen near a school in the Rosedale area is no longer a concern.

Investigators said they spoke with the people involved and have determined there is no public safety threat.

A student was stopped by a female on Tuesday between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. while walking to St. Luke Catholic Elementary School.

Officers said the female was driving a black SUV and asked the student if they wanted a ride to school.

The student continued to walk but the driver approached them again, offered a ride and then drove away.

The suspect was described as white and in her 40s with blonde shoulder-length wavy hair.

Other schools in the area were notified of the event.
