Suspended Hamilton mortgage broker now facing federal prosecution

A suspended Hamilton mortgage broker already facing charges of mortgage fraud and sexual assault, is now facing prosecution by the federal government.

Sixty-one-year-old Dennis Khanna allegedly under-reported his income by more that $1 million in 2008 and 2009.

Federal tax court filings allege neglect, carelessness and willful fraud in the handling of his tax returns.

Hamilton Police began investigating Khanna last September, after a woman said she had been sexually assaulted at his King Street office. Three other women came forward to say they had also been sexually assaulted and another woman said she had been solicited for sex.

Khanna became the focus of a growing fraud investigation. Hearings to revoke Khanna’s mortgage broker license are set to start on November 4.
