Suspected burglar dies

Hamilton Police say a suspected burglar died after injuring himself on broken glass during two attempted break-ins on the east mountain early Tuesday morning.

Police say a 23-year-old man first broke into a home on Lilacside Drive by going head first through a window. An 86-year-old woman who lives in the home confronted the man and was cut with a knife.

The man fled the home and the woman ran to a neighbour’s house. She was treated at hospital, but has since been released.
